Challenge Ladder Match Play – After
School & Weekends
The Challenge Ladder Match Play program is un-supervised match play where academy students arrange and play competitive challenge matches against each other. Players register for courts in the pro shop at Payne Park on a first-come first-served basis and can play daily matches around their own schedules. This popular program develops many positive habits in students and prepares them well for tournament and school team competition.
Students may schedule matches during times that the Payne Park courts are open to the public. Some restrictions to court times may apply during peak weekday, evening and weekend hours.
The Challenge Ladder Match Play program includes these
features:
• Self-arranged competition between Mark Dickson Tennis
Academy students
• Early, late or weekend play
• Free to after school Champions students
• Optional for morning Elite Tour Champions students
Mentor Match Play Arranging Service - After School & Weekends
Many highly regarded adult players live in the Sarasota/Bradenton area and have the desire to compete against our students in singles and doubles match play. Most of these adults played college tennis and have a much higher level of ability and experience than that of players in junior tournament competition. They compete against our academy students on a regular basis and act as valued mentors and coaches.
These adults play quite differently than the junior players our students will encounter at tournaments. They are masters of spin, angles and trajectory and are formidable competitors who have a great deal to teach our students about strategy, tactics and fighting spirit.
Students learn match toughness and gain a deeper understanding of court positioning and match flow momentum leading up to junior tournament competition.
To progress to the highest levels of high school, collegiate or professional competition requires students to be adaptable to every type of opponent and we feel we our Mentor Match Play program provides the strongest environment possible for developmental players to train and compete.
The Mentor Match Play program includes these features:
• Arranged by Academy coaches
• Matches with seasoned former college players and competitive adults
• Early, late or weekend play
• Free to all Academy students
• Requires a Payne Park annual passof $120
